Roy Ventus wrote:I basically had this idea of equipment that would aid players by putting up a weak wall of shielding when activated. It's not a drop-down equipment but rather a handheld(think Active Scanners). Why would players need this? Well there's not just one simple answer to this question. Players would be able to use this in different situations at the right time. Some examples are listed below:
Example 1: A Minimatar Logistics just picked up a bleeding out player in the middle of a hot-zone. As the player picks themselves up an enemy comes from the side and begins to open fire. The logistics quick thinking saves the both of them as they put up a wall between the bullets. Now with two against one, they take down the hostile easily.
Example 2: A Gallente Scout infiltrates the enemy's home point alone while the rest of his team goes for the center points of the map. He has successfully made it to the objective and in a matter of seconds, he has already started the counter-hack. Due to his Scan Precision, he spots an enemy just in time to put up a wall and escape the situation.
Example 3: A Caldari Assault finds herself playing Storm Trooper as she drops down from a dropship into a hot-zone. She's taking out enemies left and right due to using cover and clever tactics. Leading the battle, her allies are coming up quickly to back her up in the hot-zone. Just as her allies come in, she hear's the ignition of a mass driver. With her bare instincts, she pulls out the shield wall and defends her allies only for a brief moment, a moment which helps turn the tide of the battle.

There's many more examples of why we should have such a device in-game. It enhances gameplay and although it can be used to save your clone's hide its not too OP thanks to its limits and weaknesses. What are it's limits and weaknesses? I will list them below.
1. 150-250-350(Standard-Enhanced-Proto) (This is only for one variation)
2. Having a large hit-box means it will shatter quickly due to most of your shots hitting
3. Being shield-based means it will be weak to laser rifles, scrambler rifles, scrambler pistols, and flux grenades
4. While it can cover you from Mass Driver splash damage, if you're not in the position to take the splash damage, you'll still get hurt.
5. When the shield shatters you must manually switch weapons.
6. When the shield shatters you must wait for it to re-charge.
7. When the shield takes damage you'll have to wait for deactivate it and wait for it to charge before it becomes 100% efficient again.
8. Usable time varies with different brands but all shield walls overheat after a certain amount of time.
9. Finally, when it comes to fittings, players must find a suitable fit that will work with it's high CPU and decide whether or not they will be using the device often enough to warrant the cost.
So with that said. How does everyone feel about this? Suggestions are welcomed!
